I have read a lot but do I need to put it in the fridge now or no?

Yes and make sure the fridge is set for 40 degrees or little cooler and put it in a container with a lid and with paper towel in the bottom and from what people say is spray the paper towel and keep it moist just like you would with ones your hatching which is my impression and or put them in your garage in a dark and cool place and spray the paper towel every day but place it someplace where it wont be eaten by mice or other vermin or where it can be crushed or smashed!

they would all die if they were to hatch now and if you were to release them so just store them in the fridge until late spring or early summer and then incubate and hatch them!

Why do you want to hatch them now as they could all die if you released them in the wild now!

just wait till next year to hatch them out!

Who said he plans on releasing them now? Why not hatch it now? Just treat them as you would an exotic species that you cant release in the wild.

what do you plan on doing with them if they did hatch?
He could easily keep them all together and let the strongest survive until he has the an amount that is more suitable to his liking.

You don't need to refrigerate Chinese ooths unless you plan on releasing them into your garden in the Spring. Read this topic, particularly Ismart's posts: http://mantidforum.net/forums/index.php?sh...c=14843&hl=

Congratulations on getting an ooth, BTW! There seems to be some confusion about diapause, though Christian wrote two brief and definitive posts on the subject here: http://mantidforum.net/forums/index.php?&a...eriod&st=25 on Nov 4th Dec 3rd 08.

Remember that chilling the ooth breaks diapause which begins when the days get shorter (reduced photoperiod). Your ooth has not gone into diapause yet, so refrigeration now would do nothing for it. If you plan on raising the nymphs from your ooth indoors, follow Ismart's directions in this thread and above, and let it hatch normally.

You don't need to put them in the fridge at all. Only do that if you want to delay the hatching.
