What reason for Mantis to flew on my face....

I just capture a wild Mantis as pet, later on, seeing how he keep follow where ever I go in his tank, I let him walk onto my hand, as I move my face closer, it's move, but when i move back, he stop...So, I do this about few time, than BAM, the mantis flew on my face and I freak out XD no, I didn't hurt him or anything, I just took off my glasses and he few away >.> than I gently put him back in his tank. So, can you guy tell me any idea why would the Mantis do that was it's suppose to be a compliment or he just plain angry -__-'''

I think they want to climb on your hair! My chameleons always want to do this too for some reason. It comforts them. lol
