I had gotten two free Texas unicorn mantis' a while back...months ago(lastyear). Both male and female are long gone now, the female laid 2 ooths before she died. The first was a big one, but only hatched 7 nymphs, the second was much smaller and she laid it without a "zipper", the ooth seems totally formed, but the zipper is unprotected, could it still hatch?

Even if the zipper is not visable they should be able to hatch out with no problem.

I hope your smaller ooth hatches too! Some day I might try to raise Texas Unicorn mantises, as they are easy to acquire. Budwings may be in the future as well... but for now I have my 8 lovable babies and will be content for quite a while ^_^
