Scudder's Mantid

The State of Florida has over a dozen different species of Mantid, and I have several of them available.

I require a $50 minimum order to make the shipping worthwhile for both of us. Shipping costs include the cost of shipping, the box, the ice packs, and the bag(s)/container(s) required for the animal(s). You are welcome to combine an order of any combination of animals you like from my site below.

Live Delivery Guaranteed

All animals are shipped overnight and are guaranteed to arrive alive and healthy, provided you are there to receive the animal(s). Making sure you are there to receive the animal(s) at the designated time prevents unnecessary delays which can be dangerous to their well being. [i cannot be held liable for any shipping delays caused by your not being there to receive the animal(s).] When placing an order, please check and double-check your address and make sure you provide the correct info ... and please include your phone number ... and please make sure you are there to receive the animal(s) at the designated time. This will create a smooth transaction for everyone and will be best for the animal(s).

Credit Cards through PayPal accepted.

Thank you for your interest, and check out my website below for particulars---or contact me directly at [email protected]

can you send or post photos of this species:

Smaller Florida Mantid (Stagmomantis vicina) - $20

I have never heard of S. vicina before!
Good point, Mike! The species exists, but I have only seen it recorded in Honduras or thereabouts. It's not in Helfer, as you know, and Prof. Paul Choate' key for the University of Florida doesn't include it either. I sent him an email just now, but it was rejected, presumably because of the summer vacation. Perhaps Mr Koerner can help us out.

Hello to those who have posted!

Please allow me a couple of comments:

1) First of all, please direct all legitimate inquiries for purchase to my email (not my PM). My email is [email protected] ;

2) Second, regarding the question about "ice packs," anyone with experience shipping small arthropods knows such packs are used to keep animals cool when shipped in the summer;

3) Third, regarding the question to see photos of a particular species: if I don't have a photo on my website, then I have never seen or photographed that species before;

4) Fourth, regarding questions concerning the geography of certain species: my website lists mantid species that are "supposed" to be in the State of Florida. My listing of all of the possible species in the State of Florida doesn't mean I actually have (or have photogrpahed) each of those species possible. The active links on my page reflect those species I have actually seen, have actually kept, and have actually photographed. The links which are not active represent species that are "theoretically possible" to find in the State of Florida, but which I have not yet either personally seen or photographed;

5) Fifth, speaking of Mr. Choate, a paper he wrote provided much of the reference material from where I obtained my information on Mantid Species that are found in Florida: http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/choate/mantid_key2_03.pdf ;

6) And finally, regarding Stagmomantis vicina, that was a mistake on my part. The Smaller Florida Mantid's correct nomenclature should be Callimantis floridana, and I have since corrected my website.

In closing, thank you for the questions, and also for the scrutiny which allowed me to correct a mistake.

Take care!

Jack

To those who have inquired/ordered in the past, please be advised that the wild Florida mantids are getting quite large now. I have updated the photos of several species with my new camera, and will continue to do so as I encounter them.

Please direct all correspondence to my email: [email protected]

Thanks!

Jack
