What instar would a wild mantis be at this time like first tier (Instar)

I wanted to go out and look for some wild ones but they probably too small right now to find in the tall grass!

Course all the other insects are way easier to find like spiders,crickets and grasshoppers which I dont want right now and i had a strange notion that i want to be a entomologist but i think i am too old LOL at 38 to take courses online or college heh!

You're never too old, massaman! ine of my DiL's is only a little younger than you and working away on her batchelor's!

You're never too old, massaman! ine of my DiL's is only a little younger than you and working away on her batchelor's!

 
Not very big. They are likely L4 or larger here.
