Hi all, I shipped a fedex package on Thursday and paid 2day shipping for it. However, the package is set to arrive on Monday. I don't understand how this is "2 days" even taking into the account of items not being shipped on Sunday.

Anyway, my question is pretty simple, what's the likely hood of them surviving. I added an ice pack which has surely melted by now and they were all fed until they refused food before I shipped them. I've also kept tabs on the tracking and they've been in facilities that I can only hope have air conditioning. However I don't know about the truck. Anyone experience this before?

I think that's their standard policy it's two "working days"?

I believe someone there said to me once, don't pay for two day cuz you're close to the weekend now?

Some of their health will be up to FedEx now ? Most breeders won't ship past Weds for the same reasons your finding now, unless it's express(1 day), plus keep in mind if you do only want 2-3 day shipping the USPS priority will ship their medium priority box any where in the US for about 10 bucks, the smaller one for $5-6 done deal.

Okay thanks guys for the tips. I shipped two female adult Europeans, an adult male, and two Iris nymphs (not L1). I made two shipments that day and they were both my first time shipping them so I really do appreciate the advice since I was a little confused about how to ship. I hope they'll be okay, only time will tell, as in tomorrow.

So angelofdeathzz, say I ship something tomorrow for 2-3 day shipping, does the $5-6 or $10 include the box? Because that's what I've been having problems with. On yen's thread about packing parcels, someone mentioned getting the boxes for free. I ordered the boxes but they take forever to get here and the post office never seems to have the boxes, only flat rate.

Yes, the PO has the boxes for free, if you don't see the "Priority boxes" just ask them, but mine has 100's sitting there for the taking, plus you could throw a 10-20 pound weight in there and it costs the same to ship. They even have some free express boxes but the sizes are kind of weird?

wait!! drop everything!! u have european mantises to ship to peeps and u didnt offer me any??

i want some european mantises lol :D
Lol, I didn't think anyone really wanted Europeans, they're not common in Connecticut? I shipped them to Womantis who was interested because she couldn't find any native mantids. I'll shoot you a pm later when I get back to New York and we'll talk then (I find them there too).

Okay great, so I just ask for the free priority 2-3 day boxes? The post office I went to had like no boxes sitting out but I was looking for express and when I asked, they looked at me like I had asked for free boxes, packing materials, and shipping. So I'll see about priority. And that's great about the weight, so the ice pack shouldn't effect it then. Thanks a lot man. I thought I was gonna have to shell out $50 just to do two day shipping!

Lol state insect yet all you can find are Chinese? That's crazy, but I'll send some to you no problem. And yeah, I ordered them online last week and still didn't get them, so I guess I'll have to order them in advance.

yeah usps is slow to deliver boxes lol

can u catch me like 4 or 5 adult pairs? i wanna get a population of them settled in my garden

4 or 5 adult pairs, so about 10 total? I'll see what I can do. I wish I would've known earlier, it wouldn't have been a problem, hopefully I can find some hot spots at school, I've found plenty there, but not an area with a whole lot concentrated. So I'll get you something.

no only did they arrive safely - they were in great condition-great work! how these guys survived the journey is beyond me - but your packaging was flawless, the box was even dented on one side and no damage to the cups or mantids. one of them even successfully molted during the route. we are so mantishappy right now! thanks cameron :) btw i checked with fedex - 2 day is "2 business days" and they don't deliver on saturday unless you pay extra.
