Just a quick pic and more detailed videos to show the similarities and differences.

The Parymenopus davisoni female is sub-adult. Hymenopus coronatus is no more than pre-sub so there will be quite a size difference as adults.

I love the colorations, beautiful mantids! I've always loved the orchid species. ^^

Surprisingly, no. I did give the P.davisoni a fly just in case because she was aggressively hunting. Eventually H.coronatus got annoyed by her movement and jumped away.

That's one extraordinarily pink Hymenopus coronatus. How do you manage to get all these amazing color variations in your mantids? All of mine are practically mirror images of one another! You're gut loading your flies on food dyes, aren't you!? :tt2:

I definitely need to add Parymenopus davisoni to my list of wanted mantids--they look pretty amazing.

Beautiful videos, really ! <3

Two questions :

- What did you use to film them ?

- What is the metallic object you use to catch the fly to feed the mantis ? I ask because something might be helpful for me, I can't touch a cricket with fingers ans actually I use a small wood stake (those used for orchids, the plant) and sometimes I have to wait like ten minutes befor a cricket will climb the stake. So if you a more handy ways, my ears are fully open ^^

Thank you ^^

I have a critter keeper especially for crickets. It has tubes in it that they love to hide in. I pull the tube out. Stick open end into enclosure tap it and they fall out into the enclosure.

I think he's using long tweezers, like these. You know I can NOT stand to touch a cricket!!
