Yulee Final Molt- FAIL!!!

Oh my poor Yulee! RIP!

On Saturday night August 18th Yulee mismolted and I had to euthanize her by freezing. I would have posted befor but we were in rural TN and I had NO service!!!

I would post a picture but the phone memory is low so it wont load one on this post. 

Somehow for no reason I could think of she mismolted. Horrible.

At least praise the Lord my other two are healthy.

The mismolt looks really bad if you found her hanging like that. Really a wrong spot to molt.

Problem was I think a soft fresh claw got hooked in the screen and because she wasnt hard she couldnt pull it out..

Exactly. I knew right off she wasnt going to make it... My mom (who doesnt know very much about P. Mantids) was trying to tell me to see if she would pull out of it but i had to explain that this was a bad mismolt and she was going to just slowly die so I needed to put her down. She finally agreed.

Oh well. Now I need another.

Too bad it is so challenging to keep these interesting insects alive. It almost like the harder we try the more they die... I know thats not entirely true but it sure feels like it somethimes.
