Seems it's a good time of year for hatchings! Maybe my S carolina will be next..

But today I discovered 6 little mantis nymphs in the Chinese Ooth cup.

Well, uh.. There was one survivor.

And I've decided to name it (ironically) Cricket.

I've never been so proud!

My first hatchlings!

There hasn't been any more activity from the ooth though..

God I hope that it hatches more!!

How long does it normally take for a Chinese ooth to completely hatch out?

I've got it sitting at about 80 deg. F, not sure of the exact humidity, I don't have one of those fancy-shmancy hydrometers.

I AM EXCITED!

PICTURE TIEM!!

Congratulations, Zoe! Keep watching that ooth! There should be lots more nymphs hatching over the next few days.!

Note: It's fine to moisten it a little, but be sure that there is no free water for the nymphs to drown in.

+1 :) , probably tomorrow. I hope you have a large enough container for all of them! :p Congrats!!!! :D

Only six? Usually they hatch all at once.

Rick's right! Don't get your hopes to high. Chinese ooths are more of burst type of hatching. I myself have had rare instances where they actully took two days to completely hatch out. Good luck with your new baby! :)
