She looks to be in better shape than mine. Now I'm wondering if a mantis molted again would it's bent parts straighten out. I've never actually heard of a one making it to another shed after being deformed by the last one in all of the stuff I've read. So I don't know if that is even possible

When this female had a bad molt I thought that was it for her, especially after reading all the stories about other mantids that fell while shedding. I was pretty surprised the next day when I saw that she had climbed to the top of the enclosure considering that she only had one good walking...

L8? By my count she's only had 6 molts so far, with 1 to go. She'd also just started growing the wings so even though they are deformed, they're not the full flight ready set of adult wings.

Just moved her into this new enclosure today, thought it'd be roomier.

The front forelegs are fine and so is the right middle but the other 3 are bent near the joints. Besides that she seems fine. My question is, would there be any way...

Alright great, I've attached a vertical piece that she can shed from if she chooses.

What positions would a molt be possible from? I know hanging upside down is one, but what about while clinging to a vertical surface like a wall with a cork bark slab?

I put a moth in the other day but it just ended up dying on its own after a while and didn't get eaten, perfect size too.

For me I haven't used fruit flies in a while.I accidentally bought melanogaster instead of hydei so I just took some newly born dubias and gave it to her on a piece of wire, kabob style. Last weekend I actually put in a moth and grasshopper in her enclosure to see if she would feed on her own...

So my mantis shed over the weekend. Finally lol I thought she'd only grow a little bit. I wasn't expecting her to double in size from 1" to 2". Amazing how they fit the new exo-skeleton into the older, smaller one.

She just shed over the weekend and is about 2" now so I'd say L4. Right now I still can't get her to hunt on her own but she still gets plenty to eat by hand feeding. There's also a meal replacement powder geared for insectivores but I'm not gonna feed that, was just curious if it would work...
