    Mantisfly

Alright, I know this is COMPLETELY off the subject, but wow, I thought I was the only one in Yuma crazy enough to keep mantids. Seriously though. Awesome pictures, Frack. I didn't know mantisflies looked so funky.

    Wingless fruit flies for trade

Hi, I have an old culture of wingless fruit flies I'm willing to trade for fly pupae. Housefly, bluebottle, whatever. I'm not picky, I just want flies. ;p I bought the D. Melanogaster March 25th, made a new culture, and some of them are probably developing wings. Hah. Just contact me if you...

    Backyard gecko

Since the nights started heating up, we've had a mysterious explosion in the moth population around our house, so while I was out hunting for a special treat for the mantises, I saw this little guy hanging out above our door. Not sure what he is, but I thought you'd enjoy him as much as I did! :)

Ah, nevermind.. she's gone.. I came home just now and she's not moving anymore. The rest are perfectly fine, though, very strange.

    Sick Chinese Mantis

One of my females has been acting very strange. I noticed her head was drooping but not making any response when I waved my hand in front of her or tried to get her attention. This morning, she looks worst, she's not even standing up, just kind of lying there on this slope of netting I have in...

    Shield mantis nymphs for sale.

Hi, I've got some wingless D. Melanogaster fruit flies. It's an old culture that I've had since 4/11, but there's still plenty to at least start a new culture if you want them, or I could do it for you in a 20 oz. water bottle. My mantises are growing out of fruit flies. Heh.

    idolomantids playing dead

That is so weird! One of my L3 Chinese nymphs did something similar. His forelimbs were all stretched out and I thought "well that's weird, is he ok?" As I opened the lid to the tank, he was knocked down and looking lifeless. In fact, he stretched himself out so he looked like a little brown...

Surprise! Thanks to the people in my other thread that confirmed this, mantid food laid me a bunch of eggs I don't want because I have a million of these guys in my backyard. Plus I don't know the first thing about them anyway. I'm hesitant to ship outside the US, because A. Never done it...

The lacewing got the last laugh

Oh yeah they're great alright, I just don't want them. Hopefully someone will want them more than me, otherwise, outside they go. Hah. Edit: Posted an ad in the classified section for them. Yay.

The lacewing got the last laugh

I really, really don't know what category this would fit in. I caught a lacewing last night. Pretty little bugger, but he's also small enough to be eaten. So I chuck him in the mantis tank. Nobody seems interested, oh well, they'll get him when they're hungry, right? So I wake up the...

Wow. I saved that pic, it was just too neat looking. I think the background really makes it pop, and the way my eye kind of follows the flowers down the mantis. Sheesh. I'm impressed.
