It's probably not a good idea to feed anything a wild silverfish since they eat paint and such, but I hadn't know at the time.
Enjoy the sound effects ^_^
It took it an hour to eat the entire thing so I sped it up to 3 minutes.
I'm trying to give away as many as I can. When they're old enough I'm going to scatter some in my garden before they start attacking each other. Some will end up cannibalizing each other though, hopefully that will weed out the fittest in the end.
A flash isn't required. You just need light, doesn't matter what it comes from. Depends on the angle of the light, the amount of lights, the color of the light, the size of the light etc.
Well if you get an ooth that lasts 5-6 months and then it will hatch and at least one will survive until 12-18 months, so that's about 2 years there right?
I have a 20watt CFL blacklight that I've sat outside overnight in a trap and caught nothing. I hope this changes in spring. It's been a bit dry here recently, just rained today though finally.
Bought a batch of fruit flies the other day though.
Great info, I've posted my finished terrarium here http://mantidforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=28943
I've put a bendy branch that's made of a foam and seems like it'd be easy for the mantis to hold onto.
Well this is the reason it's not a big deal really. Mantids don't go eating everything like cane toads do and they aren't poisonous.
But the problem lies in the unknown, there are so many variables in nature that you can't know what's going to happen.
