Does anyone have recommendations for beetles with long lifespans? I'm keeping blue death feigning beetles at the moment and was hoping to find other beetle species with long lifespans... preferably desert species, but not limited.

Thanks!

I'm a fan of Eleodes spinipes giant Darkling beetles
Also, Hemiphileurus and Phileurus are long-lived predatory rhino beetles

Thanks Orin! I'll definitely check out these species. I have my eye on some iron clad beetles as well. I get almost more enjoyment watching the beetles as I do mantids.😀

I called this am and asked them she said it was Dermestid, which I think is just what a general species name, they probably do not know what they are. I go take a pic, unless someone wants them I am throwing them out as they are to many of them.

Thanks Orin. They are small, but that might make them great candidates for some cool micro-habitats. Now I just need to locate some specimens. :)

I looked up pictures of them. Seems there are so many different varieties of that one.
I noticed that! This is a pretty one. Since spiders are forbidden in my household I might have to settle. I'll just make sure when I print my labels that I omit the word spider. 😂

Mezium americanum (American spider beetle), PM me if you can't find them but I know there's a 35-year-old stock of Mezium in circulation.
