At the moment me and the family are doing our bit as directed by the government to slow the onset of Coronavirus.
Social distancing, kids been told to wait off school. Restricting movement outside and keeping 3 metres away from the neighbours and everyone else. Got a 18 month old that struggles...
WOW, I would have gassed the house.
Even under lock and key enclosures I wouldn't keep death Stalkers. Their way too hot for me. I lost a dwarf scorpion from what I thought was a locked tub. Never saw it again either. Checked everywhere with the black light but it never turned up. Thank God it...
Yes this ones only 4 cm.
I bought my first mantis from one of the main exotic pet shops and they could only tell me it was a budwing. That would have been a stali !. I had to find my own info on the mantis and got some misinformation on the genus. Il check under the forewings later to make sure...
I read that the giant Kenyan budwing was parashendale affinis, the last budwing male I had was as big as a tenodera. These ones I have now are more like the size flower mantis.
Can anyone tell me for sure which parashendale genus this mantis belongs to. I had a budwing mantis before which I believed to be of the genus Affinis, my last mantis was male and was more than twice the size of the male in this photo.
The budwings I have now including the one in the picture...
It’s a mis-molt and a bad one at that. even if you loosened her out of the moult she is not going to be in good shape. Also it’s a final moult, so even with hand feeding and extra care that can be given she cant moult again to rectify the bad moult. Get more advice from other more experienced...
Alright guys. Thanks for advice and il take it on board. The enclosure was just misted before I took the photo. First time keeping orchids and I’m still waiting for my hygrometers coming.
A bit of paper towel works better than coco fibre for ease of cleaning, unless your adding springtails. Just mist the paper towel and let it almost dry before misting again. I normally spray mine once a day or every two days.
Aye bad time of year for getting anything posted. If you can’t get small crickets from a pet shop the only feeder that will be around are spiders. It’s been mild enough here. Check around the doors and windows of the house and they will be sitting with eggcases this time of year. Just look for...
No worries I do it all the time. The mans name is Ivan. Tell him I put you onto to him. He’s got a serious amount of feeders and mantis. In fact he’s the only person I know that cultures flies in Ireland. Il be culturing Curleywings soon enough but I don’t have any at the moment.
L4 ghosts would still be too small to take green bottle flies. The pallids are good as they range from 0.2mm to 7mm. I have a large colony and that’s what I feed my ghosts when they get bigger. L4 ghosts should also be able for small crickets.
