There was the reptile supershow in pamona just a few months ago. I went. It was hot, crowded, no mantises. Was a bust. Don't know about shows, been looking for something for a while now but I've come up empty. Maybe we could start our own california bug show :P

I have a ghost. She molted into an L3 on July 3rd and I believe she's close to her final molt; anytime now. Her wing buds are very swollen as well as her abdomen. So it will be almost exactly 3 months for her to go from L3 to L7 which is the final instar for ghosts. This is just my experience...

I am new to this hobby but from what I've kept, a ghost mantis might be a great candidate. Just make sure to offer him/her water every other day and throw some fruit flies in their enclosure every 3-4 days misting every 3-5 days and they'll do fine in my experience. They don't get too big...
