Usually there's some tiny pieces of foam sticking out and small holes but if they've been rubbed off it's not so easy to tell.

They need ventilation but not too much as nymphs, places to hang and live food.

He was around a while and did great things but I think he's also been gone a while.

As part of the diet I'm sure they're good but I don't know that any mantis could live on isos because they hide in the substrate, without substrate dry out quickly, and don't have much fat on them.

You can get the mosquito dunks or bits and make a spray application (if you just throw a piece on nothing happens).
