My fat mantis is leaking from her top side! Can I put aloe on her stretch marks?

What are spiracles? Is the hemolymph greenish in color? I've actually seen a dark reddish "saliva" with my opthalmoscope.

My fat mantis is leaking from her top side! Can I put aloe on her stretch marks?

I noticed the greenish blood when some molted. Ive noticed dark brown-red blood when they were probably infected. I've never seen this before. Also, I don't think she is capable of laying eggs. I tried putting her outside, before she ate the cricket but she is too scared. I did not...

My fat mantis is leaking from her top side! Can I put aloe on her stretch marks?

Yeah. I put honey. I was thinking aloe because it might help seal her underside and stop it from popping. I've used it with success on harder surfaces like the thorax and legs. (Also never before a molt). I just don't know if the abdomen is too soft?

My fat mantis is leaking from her top side! Can I put aloe on her stretch marks?

My fat egg bound iris oratoria ate a huge cricket. It was a mistake. Yesterday she oozed light brown goo from one of the lines on her back. However, she has dark brown stretch marks I'm afraid will pop. Could I put aloe on them or will that injure her more? I want to seal her abdomen and...

Outdoor mantid with larvae in abdomen- Has anyone heard of this?

Thank you. I had a friend come over to put her down. I couldn't do it. I am amazed that she was so alive with a hollow abdomen.

Weird stuff on stick- ootheca attempts?

That happened to me and my female continues to lay eggs like that. I don't think they can hatch. Se is fine, but I don't think I'll ever get any good ooths. In my case she is too small. I hope yours lays a healthy ooth.

Outdoor mantid with larvae in abdomen- Has anyone heard of this?

Thanks for the link Rick. The abdomen of the mantid in my backyard looks exactly like the picture of the green mantid (Carolina I think). This is awful! We had extreme storms and flooding here, so there are many new bugs I've never seen before in my yard now. I don't want this threat to live...

Outdoor mantid with larvae in abdomen- Has anyone heard of this?

An outdoor iris oratoria was fine 2 days ago. Today her abdomen is almost completely hollowed out. I looked with my ophthalmoscope and saw what looked like fruit fly larvae moving. She is still alive and I put her in a spot that I can find her when she dies. I freaked out and bleached my...

mated an iris oratoria 2 months ago- why won't she lay ANYTHING?

She got the brown spots immediately after eating the cricket. She is still not laying eggs. I don't know how to get pictures up. I tried buying a camera and a better phone. . . Anyways, so if she does not lay she will die?

    Can a clone have clones

Yes, I believe that she is a clone because the only way that she would not be a clone is if a male flew through my bathroom window, (which was open) mated with her mother, and flew out without her mother eating him. She did attract 2 males that did fly through my window after the first ooth was...

mated an iris oratoria 2 months ago- why won't she lay ANYTHING?

She now as brown spots on her abdomen on her belly side. It looks like her abdomen is soo stretched and I can see her insides. As far as her stopping eating, I believe what you said as long as they are in nature. I feel that since I took her out of nature, that they are just not as smart...

mated an iris oratoria 2 months ago- why won't she lay ANYTHING?

Oh my God! I can't get the cricket away from her. I've tried knocking her off her perch and grabbing it with tweezers. I don't know what to do. She will be too fat. If she can't lay eggs. . . I tried showing her my cat. She just spread her wings and ran with the cricket. As far as mating...

Head stuck in molt- Is it safe to use water to get it off?

I lost her. She chewed her antennas off and would only eat honey. The exoskeleton was fused to her head. I believe I made things worse when she just molted and I had tugged on it and she was still soft. The area became black (probably infected) and she couldn't even eat honey anymore. Now I...

mated an iris oratoria 2 months ago- why won't she lay ANYTHING?

I have a female adult iris oratoria, (she may be a clone). She has been an adult for 3 months, and she has NOT laid ONE ooth! The others of the same age are on their 3 or 4th ooths. She is the only one that may be a clone and the only one left that was raised in a critter carrier. She is in a...

Head stuck in molt- Is it safe to use water to get it off?

Its in the middle of her head under her eyes and on the top part of her mouth. It looks like on her nose, but I guess they don't have noses?
