Lets see the face behind the username!

For some reason whenever I picture you guys I always imagine uber nerds. Hair in a bowl cut, glasses, pocket protectors, pants pulled up too high. I guess you guys are really just nature nuts like me, and Acorn though.

    Mantids that nobody has

Dang you guys. So many cool mantids we don't have. We should all chip in, and send somebody out to collect them for us.

    Mantids that nobody has

What are the mantid species out their that nobody has, but everyone wants? There's bound to be a few awesome ones out there that aren't being kept.

    How?!? (Otomantis scutigera)

Well that's pretty lucky he made it at all. How are you helping him eat? Do you just have to hand him food?

Yeah I think adults have enough trouble breeding them. What with the cannibalism, and all.

Oh, ok. I figured they would have to be near other flowers. That's pretty cool they can attract more insects than some flowers on their own.

    My new mantis-feeding invention

So cool! I bet it would work great with certain species of roaches as well.

Mantis eggs, ootheca disappeared after mating.

My first guess would definitely be that a hidden insect ate it. Hard to imagine a mantis eating an ooth, but I never pictured them eating turkey either, so who knows. Is there anyway it could have somehow fallen behind something?

    How?!? (Otomantis scutigera)

10 hours? Ouch, sounds like quite the ordeal. Goes to show the importance of humidity I guess. What about the original question?

That's funny. I thought their mimicking flowers was already well known.

    Mole crickets?

It probably hasn't been done. If you really feel like breeding them you'll have to dedicate more time to finding them. Then I guess just see how they interact with each other.

    Mysterious Moss Mantis

Cool! I wouldn't mind keeping some of those. It would be nice to know more about them.

How long does the ooth take to hatch for this species?
