    L3 Violin + Chinese

Hey everyone! So despite my camera being very mediocre it still managed to catch the beauty of my young little friends. The violin pictures are of my L3 female Susie ( She loves crickets. Which is interesting because everyone says they won't go for them ) :P This one's really cool. It's...

Mantis Diet - fish lizards birds and mice

So I was watching some videos on youtube of mantids snacking on goldfish, anole's, mice and even a hummingbird. Is this harmful? I don't plan on feeding my chinese anything of that magnitude but it looks like it can be done. Are goldfish or mice harmful to the mantis if digested or can the...

My last resort to keep them going is honey or jam. Getting some sugar and liquid in them never fails when it come to hand feeding

    Agressive Mantids

The closest situation I can relate to biting is when a few of my violins and Chinese nymphs spread their arms and munch on my finger. but this is for moisture they don't actually pierce or eat the skin. I have never had a mantis bite me but my mio female adult once gave my finger a whack!

    Considerate Chinese

Interesting! I separated mine into small cups. I thought cannibalism would be more profound so I separated them but I suppose it isn't an issue right now. I have 16 of them. All seem to be very healthy. Eating lots hopping around. but how much do you spray your enclosure?

    Considerate Chinese

Due to some shipping mishaps , my chinese eggs fell to the bottom of their enclosures and about a hundred were dead when I opened the package. I figured they were a day old. No signs of cannibalism. Still about a hundred roaming around. so I move them to a bigger enclosure. The next day no...

If you could pick two favorite Mantis?

For me it's going to be. . . . Chinese , Violins and Idolo's. 3rd : Chinese for their classic design and large build, ( Plus their ability to take down lizards, birds and mice ) and they aren't bad look'n either. Healthy hardy species that always wins me over. 2nd.) Idolomantis Diabolica...

    Fruit flies

HAnd feed them honey or jam to give them some sugar and moisture. Since they're so weak they won't run away. It's how I kept my violins strong enough to wait for pinheads. on the end of a toothpick works
