Due to some shipping mishaps , my chinese eggs fell to the bottom of their enclosures and about a hundred were dead when I opened the package.

I figured they were a day old. No signs of cannibalism. Still about a hundred roaming around.

so I move them to a bigger enclosure. The next day no cannibalism , and yet many start to drop and die. I thought they would be more aggressive and kill each other but alot of them died and refuse to eat each other. Sort of interesting.

So gave em the fruit flies and they ate those up like crazy. I currently have about 40.

Just thought I'd share! Also how often should I mist, once i morning once before bed kind of thing?

Any advice or specifics for me regarding this species? Im really looking forward to the size of these guys and everything about them! The biggest species I've raised to adult was the egyptian miomantis :p

I also have an L3 violin.

Only advice is don't let the "mass" die off "kill" you. Keep what you can to the best of your ability and you will preserve your rightful place. Ask that mantis goddess "what's her name"? She'll likely forgive you any transgressions. Right?

You are a strange, sad little man.

lol jk.

Don't be surprised if a lot of them die for no obvious reason. You can expect to end up with several adults under the best circumstances. I'd mist them either morning or mid day. If they dry out really bad by night give them another. Or get some type of substrate that will hold a little moisture.

My experience was similar to yours--at that age, I had far more "just die" than eat each other. With a big enclosure and plenty of food, I didn't start seeing cannabalism until recently (they are L4 now). They are getting more aggressive now though, just before L5 molt and have started to fight over caught food. I have to pick my keepers now. I still have 30 left.

Interesting! I separated mine into small cups. I thought cannibalism would be more profound so I separated them but I suppose it isn't an issue right now. I have 16 of them. All seem to be very healthy. Eating lots hopping around. but how much do you spray your enclosure?

I spray 2 to 3x a day, they have a live plant in there with them. During molting I run a

humidifier.
