Just found L3 Iris oratoria on my dead treestump OUTSIDE!!!

I doubt it hid in cracks in the stump. Mantids can take surprisingly cold temps and will slow down like a reptile.

    Choeradodis?

Choeradodis are very difficult to breed. They have been brought into the hobby many times and most cultures die off pretty quickly. They are tricky because they need really high humidity, but still a lot of ventilation and even with that many die unexpectedly. If the humidity drops under a...

Sorry for responding to that quote too that was an accident. I only wanted to respond to when he said, " The Ant Mantis and Asian Ant Mantis subadults look really similar." The thing is that both Odontomantis and Myrmecomantis are asian haha.

Help identifying wild mantis I caught?

Both of these are just common names that can be used for any species of mantis worldwide that mimics ants, or Asian ant mantis for any ant mimicking Asian mantis. Scientific names are always better to use to prevent confusion, especially when there are many species that could have the same...

I found One! And I think it is a female! :D

I have noticed around this time of year I find them in the most random places. I do not think they survive past fall even if kept warm. Check the bottom of the container for ova that will hatch in the spring!

    Belize vaca, advice welcome

The farm sites that work best are the cocoa plantations because they are usually built into a tropical forest and are surrounded by forest. The mantids like macromantis and pseudoxyops are commonly found on the trees in the plantations. In savanna habitats you should be able to find some...
