    Beginner Mantis Species?

Creobroter gemmatus or Theopropus elegans or Popa spurca or Acromantis sp are other super easy mantids

What mantis species should I keep next?

Dead leafs are super nice go for it! Just if u get lobata or truncata be careful not to give them places tp molt off that are too low, they are stupid. Also Rhomboderas, such awesome mantids! Orchids are not that difficult to raise, but getting the ooths to hatch can be a problem.

    Largest mantis?

Probably Rhombodera megaera are the biggest and bulkiest from what I've seen. My idolo is also pretty huge but she is so fragile lol. Also megamantis is pretty big but more like slender and long. Not as slender as heterochaetas.

    Deroplatys truncata

Pretty difficult they aren't the best of eaters and they don't molt as easily as others. Also males are adult 2 moults less than females. Buuut they are so pretty and awesome it's worth the effort :D

    Mantis obsession :)

Heya, some news about my lovely mantids ;)  ooths aren't going very well what with the weather change, I don't really have an incubator so I just let them be, either they hatch or they don't.  My first generation of baby lineolas and laticollises mostly are adult now, I bred one laticollis...

How's the Orchid Mantid for a complete novice?

Orchids are not that difficult to bring to adulthood. But after that, they can drop dead if u look at them wrong. And as mentioned before, females can often get ooth bound and die :(  I just bred mine and hoping it won't happen. But they are amazing indeed!  Gongylus are just pain in the lol...

    Most impressive deimatic display?

I love Rhombodera's pose, the wide spread arms and beautiful pink inner wing! And of course idolo is super impressive, and deroplatys with those big colourful wings under the leafy camouflage :)

    Heat vs. Sunlight

My friend says she has better succes with breeding some species (orchids, gongylus, mendicas) and nicer colours if they get UV. I haven't tried it yet, but I probably will, always worth a try to make things better for my mantids.

Creobroter gemmatus is small and very easy to care for and also pretty :)

    Three months in...first impressions.

Also you get used to the flying, at first it was weird but now I'm like "come on Cecil, wanna fly onto my face?" And he's like Fffrrrrrtttr right on there :D

    Three months in...first impressions.

With the bigger ones it's not that difficult, I usually just put a hand in front of where they want to fly and they fly on my hand :)  but the small species... They are very very good at flying and once you lose sight of them, good luck finding them. My Creobroter gemmatus male was hiding...
