    Before and after molt

She should be fine, just give her some time to finish molting. :)

DIY large mantis setup, very cost effective.

They look really handy and easy to make! I love using shelf liner in my enclosures, and the mantids seem to really like it too. :)

    Any other snake keepers?

I just wanted to see if anyone else here kept snakes. I adore them, but right now we just have the one little guy. He's a pied sided bloodred corn, and he has quite a bit of white on him! I wasn't able to really get good photos of his white sides because he just wasn't cooperating when I tried...

That seems to be the plus side to breeding species that are native! :) I think our apartment complex would have something to say though if they saw me releasing tons of baby mantids everywhere.  :P

    Mantisman 230's collection thread

Nice pics! I like all the detail you can see in their wingbuds.

Thank you! And yes, she is a ghost mantis. :) She just completed her final molt the other day and is looking amazing! I'm hoping now that she's a bit larger I'll be able to get some good photos of her. I'm giving her a few more days to recover and hopefully start eating again before I try. :)...

    Les the mantis

He looks male to me, but I could be wrong. Either way, he/she is a beauty! :)

I finally got a few shots of Marfa, but I'm not really happy with them. For some reason she has been my hardest mantis to photograph! Either way, here she is. :)  I think she will be having her final molt soon, her wingbuds are really swollen today and she has been refusing food.

Sounds like you'll have a lot of baby mantids soon! Congrats. :)

    My Tarantulas

Here are a few new pictures, the first two are of my Euathlus Sp. Red (Bit). Bit hatched in November of 2015 and has been with me since December of 2015. In that time he has molted once and is actually a bit bigger than when he came to me. :)  The second two pictures are of my GBB (Blueberry).

Sphodromantis viridis electroformed in copper as a pendant

That's crazy looking, how awesome! :)

Pseudempusa pinnapavonis (Manny) now an adult

He's adorable, I love his big eyes!

How important is a clean up crew?

I use ecoearth as a substrate with fake plants in their enclosures. I find that spot cleaning after every few feeding, and a good wipe down with hot water and a change of substrate every few weeks keeps things nice and clean.

    My Tarantulas

Thank you for the tip! I don't have his last molt anymore, but he has been refusing food and should molt for me again soon, I'll definitely take a much closer look when he does.

    My Tarantulas

I thought I'd start a picture thread showing off my tarantulas. I got my first tarantula a year and a half ago, and I have been obsessed ever since. I currently have 8 in my collection, and a Brachypelma klaasi sling will be on its way to me next week.  This first picture is of my first...

Thank you! And yes, it's breaking my heart. I've been hand feeding her for a while now, her vision seems really bad and she has had a hard time finding food on her own. I've found this to be the only downside to keeping mantids, they have such short lifespans and I get really attached to them so...

Here is a picture of my oldest girl, Ridley. This photo is from a few months ago, she has started to decline a bit recently and I try not to bother her too much. In other news, my orchid molted into a subadult the other day! I'm so surprised at how small he still is.

I hope that some of your ooths turn out to be fertile! They are beautiful mantids. :)  What kind of camera are you using?

Glad you found her safe and sound!

    Suffering from GMM

I've also hear that orchids are not considered a beginner species, but I got mine not long after I got into the hobby and I've found him pretty easy to care for. Good luck with your new baby! :)
