    Idolomantis diabolica, L6 male

Sure thing! I offered this idea cause I had 4 L1 Idolos, 3 females and 1 male, and I just fed the male less and the female more, and she is now two molts ahead of him at L5. My female which hatched in May just finally reached adulthood, my first adult Idolo, it's very exciting. I use polyester...

Maybe if you feed the male less, and the female more, she will molt a couple times before he does again? Awesome photo!!

Do mantids care if they see led lights?

I dont think it should bother em, it might make em hyper though! some mantids seem to react to the brighter lights more intensely than others.

November 23rd Baline (female Idolo) reached adulthood! This is the best day of my life! I'm seriously so happy that she made it. I've wanted to own an adult Idolomantis for years. Ghosts definitely can live a long time. I'm not sure how long Heterochaeta can live, this is my first time owning them. I'm guessing around a year, but I'm not positive.

November 4th Peter (male Polyspilota griffinii) reached L5! November 11th #6 (male Idolomantis) reached L4! November 16th Neptune (male Heterochaeta hatchling) reached what I believe is L6, based on his size! Burlap fabric works well for these guys! TBC

Just when you think you've seen it all

Thats happened to mine too, adding humidity seemed to help, maybe the delis are too tall so the humidity doesnt reach em when theyre way up there? does it seem moist in the entire cup or just the paper towel? might be too much ventilation since they are on the lid where all the air is comin in

    Parasphendale agrionina vs affinis

Nice! Yes they were adults at that time. So if at L6, that means your girl had five molts, meaning she has got four more to go! They are a very pretty species. You're welcome, and haha

It may sound gross but if you can cut a prey item into tiny pieces they won't be as scared. You can rest it on their mouth and then they will realize its food and take a hold of it. I used a needle rather than tongs because tongs are too big and get in the way.
