That is some sound advice, Rick and Lame. As my little Ghost mantids got bigger I removed all the other bushy-type material and hot-glued sticks to the top screened area. I had better do the same for one of my other containers soon!

It is just my opinion, Rick - but the deli cup cloth lids eventually need to be replaced which adds a little extra cost, the opening has both more control in feeding mantids and in having flies crawl up and out and if I need extra containers I can usually find people around me who were planning...

I always fed by baby Egyptian mantises the D. melongaster (spelling?) and never had issues. Yes - they are small - but most Egyptian mantises have spunk and a will to live! This is definitely a fun species as some of them are real characters. (=
