    I definitely would!

    MantisGirl13

Just finished a trade with @MantisGirl13, and I can definitely say that I will be doing business with her again. The trade was fair, and I ended up buying a bunch more from her. She packed all 17 of them in the box, and they all arrived healthy, happy, and clearly well taken care of. ...

    Dead leaf mantis

There’s nothing to worry about! I’ve had mantids go really long times without molting. In fact, I currently have 4 subadult Ghost mantids, and they haven’t molted in over a month and a half! I was worried at first, but then I realized that they have their own agenda, and follow their own plans. ...

    Feeding communal species

Here’s the “custom dispenser” I built. I make the culture as normal, and use a coffee filter for the lid. When I’m ready to use the culture, I take that lid off, and replace it with the special one. It’s a lot easier than trying to deal with 1000 flies all trying to escape at the same time ?

    Feeding communal species

Another excellent question! Let me share a part of a message I just sent a friend: ”From my experiences, you can put any number of ghosts together, given a few things. First of all, room is a pretty important factor. If you have a decent sized enclosure, you can fit quite a few ghosts...

    Dane’s Mantids

Nice photos! Trust me, you will really enjoy the orchid. They aren’t as hard to care for as their caresheets imply. They are fun, however.

    spiny flower mantis's

The first one I took, it’s a presub female munching on a Dubia.  This is the same female, molting to subadult: And here she is a few days after the molt (you can see her little wingsbuds with the spiral ?):

    Repashy and potato

I’m not sure about mixing them, but I’ve used only potato flakes for my cultures. It’s just so much cheaper than using a premade mix. And I’m a cheapskate ? I use a 7:1:1 ratio of potatoes: powdered sugar: brewers yeast. I use 1/2 cup of that dry mix, put it in a jar, and add as much liquid as...

    Hello!

Nice! I’ve always been interested in getting a tarantula, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to do it. How hard/easy are they to keep? What kinds do you have? And the big question, would you trade some to me?!? Lol! Anyway, welcome to the forum! If you’re looking for awesome people with...

    Ello'!

Welcome! I’m a college student in Indiana, and I must say, they make a good pet. Compared to other desk pets, like a fish, a mantis is so much cooler!  What kind of mantis are you looking to get?

    orchid nymph molting quite often

There’s nothing to worry about. My orchids, both the male and female, molted really often, and usually at the same time (which was really weird, but kinda cool). There was one molt, the male to L5 and the female to L7, that was only 8 days after the previous molt.  Dont worry about feeding it...

New mantid enthusiasts from Toronto area

What a magnificent mantis! Let me warn you, though. Now that you’ve joined this forum, you have been infected with the mantis virus. Early symptoms are simple: appreciation for the elegance of mantids, maybe catching a wild one from time to time. Then, all the sudden, the symptoms will become...

    Rabbit food?

I feed mine a mix of oats, dried apples, raisins, and a few other assorted nuts and barley. I also buy a sweet potato, or a broccoli every now and then, and they really like it

    Rabbit food?

I’ve never thought about using rabbit food. I’ve read about using chicken pellets, but a lot of people seem to be against it.  Honeatly, I don’t see the harm in it, just make sure to mix in some fresh fruits/veggies every now and then. The only issue I can think of with the rabbit food is the...

    Creobroter

SOLD! I had my first exotic ooth hatch a couple weeks ago, and here they are! Ive got 8 Creobroter sp. nymphs available. Most are currently L1, and will be shipped the Monday after they reach L2, which means most of them should be good to go for next Monday.  They are Creobroter, but I am not...

    Orchid mantis behavior

Good to hear that she’s alright! Ive never had my orchids do this before, but I do have 2 spiny flower mantids that do it quite frequently, usually whenever I pick up their cup. I think they’re just trying to jump away, but since they can’t, they end up really freaking out.  Im not sure if it...

Help!!! Flightless Fruit Fly culture stopped producing

@MantisGirl13 Youre lucky that your local petsmart even carries fruit flies. I called three of them by where I live, just out of curiosity, and they’ve all stopped carrying fly cultures. So I’m on my own when it comes to feeding my nymphs! Currently about 25 Creobroter gemmatus nymphs (going up...

    Devils Flower mantis

I would say that your results definitely support your caresheet! I was starting to get really worried about having to make their enclosure have a really high humidity. I think it will be a lot easier to keep them dry, at least until they’re subadult.  I sure am glad that you posted this...
