    Purple Spiny flower mantises

That is very interesting about the natural light possibly helping to turn them pink or purple. Yes, I think temperature may have something to do with the purple/pink coloring because I was keeping many Spiny flower mantis nymphs cool, down in the 70s F. But then when I warmed the Spiny flower...

We could learn from the RoachForum

I love roaches. I am on the roachforum, too. There are some roach groups on Facebook that are great. The Turkestan roaches that I have are cold hardy and seem to be able to survive our winters okay outside here in North Carolina. I did take them in once it got down to the teens F though just...

    Jon

I did a trade with Jon (https://mantidforum.net/members/jon.8472/) recently for a Gooty Saphire Ornamental tarantula. All went well. He sent a forest scorpion, too, as a surprise. I have not had a scorpion before and I am excited to raise one.

Hi I’m from North Carolina and have questions about mantises

Oh, wow! Nice. I have adult female Ghost mantids in 32oz containers with fabric lids and window screening glued to the sides of the containers for grip. I used a hot glue gun for gluing the window screening.

Hi. I am running low on 96 hour heat packs, but I have some 60 hour heat packs still. I am going to ship some mantises soon to California and other places. Would 60 hour heat packs last long enough for 2-3 Day Priority Mail?

Hello from North Carolina! (I have a question)

Yes, actually I do happen to have one sub-adult Ghost mantis male. Are you in need of a male? He was slowed down in growth so that I didn't have to feed him for months I think. I kept him cold. I just started keeping him warmer again a couple weeks ago, and have fed him and given him water...

    Oddly Shaped Ghost Mantis Ooth

Yes, I agree with hibsicusmile that it is about time it should have hatched since you got it when the ootheca was brown color which means it was already older. Cooler temperatures might make oothecas take longer to hatch though.

Hello from North Carolina! (I have a question)

Wow, great! Maybe you could meet me here at the seminary in Wake Forest, and I could give you some Ghost mantis nymphs. I have a bunch now. I also have way too many Texas unicorn mantis nymphs if you would like a bunch of those.

Hello from North Carolina! (I have a question)

To return the ootheca wouldn't the ootheca have to be intact?

    Oddly Shaped Ghost Mantis Ooth

Yes, as Hibiscusmile said, they were not fresh because they were brown in color. Fresh Ghost oothecae are green in color. So they should be ready to hatch soon if they were good. I have several Ghost oothecas hatching now. They don't take that long to hatch after they turn brown. It is the...
