    Oh noes!

Well, that's odd. A mantis usually looses it's legs if it meets a predator or mismolts. The leg just.. disappeared? What did you feed it?

Hierodulas are very cool and fun to watch mantids. They usually get about 4 inches in length, and eat almost anything they can kill. Including their mates.. > :D

Will my Male Hierodula M. Be alright for mating purposes?

He eats well and doesn't fall off of his perches, and is quite territorial.

Will my Male Hierodula M. Be alright for mating purposes?

When he was molting he kind of fell and hit a leaf with his underdeveloped wing, so they're kind of screwed up to a somewhat noticeable point, and one of his legs looks weird. He also seems to be incapable of flight.

What type of mantis is this?

I've read somewhere that Iris have an orangeish spot under their abdomen, this mantis doesn't.. and the head's shaped differently.

    I feel a little stupid

Knowing my two Heridulas, My adult male, being the jerk he is, decided to be a meanie toward nymphs that somehow got in his cage. Two iris nymphs were in the hands of him, and he ate them like french fries. I feel dumb because I don't know how they got in there.

It's unusually aggressive compared to the other mantids I catch in my area, and I think it may be female?
