Well the wasps are gone and woke up too this treat wanted to share with everyone

Wow, you've got a barrel of nymphs there! How exciting. :)

    "Why are the fish disappearing?"

My first thought is, raccoon or heron. Especially if they're feeding them floating pellets, they associate any presence at the pond with food. If it was bad water quality or disease, they'd be finding bodies so I would guess some sort of predator. I would try making a refuge for them if herons...

    some shots

Love the fourth-to-last picture! You're really good at getting nice face-shots. :) And those Popa pictures are wild! I guess I've never looked at their face that closely before.

    Green Ghost

Pretty girl! I love how the projections on their prothorax curl up. :) Looks like the start of wing buds there?

    It's a fly... it's a mantis... it's a mantidfly!

Very cool! I never even knew these existed (which, I suppose, isn't saying a lot for me ;) ) Me too, I love it. Very interesting from an evolutionary standpoint. :)

Any members hit by Texas tornadoes?

I can't imagine... It must be terrifying. (Makes me glad I live in the Pacific Northwest on a fault-line that has yet to go off... <_< ) Here's to hoping people are staying safe...

    Awesome Video

Yeah, it's cute. :) I watched it with my roommates awhile back and was shouting out the names of the different species during the opening!

    Not Sure WHAT'S Going On

Oh boy... Following your mantis saga, I have the niggling feeling that you'll be finding some more here soon. ;)

    Mantis Drawings

Really nice! Soo many different parts... Great detail. Have you been drawing mantids for awhile? My mantis drawings are confined to doodles on my notes when I get bored in class. :)

    Sleep Deprivation

I hear you, Mime. I'm not a procrastinator, but high academic expectations can drive me into the ground, especially last quarter. Constant fatigue is the price I pay for my GPA, though. This is my last quarter until I get my BA in Environmental Science, and I will be sooo happy to...

What In The World..... Finally wahoo....

Wow, so cool, especially to see them hatch en masse! Congratulations! This is such an interesting species. (The world's smallest violins, haha! )

    Images from the Digger household

He's really handsome, and he does seem awfully proud of those wings. :) I laughed out loud at the captions (especially after "nymphocide") and my roommates had to ask me what was so funny...

    Just got my mantids in!

That's true: guess it's different for everyone! I've got two so it's hard to imagine ten, especially little nymphs! (I think they're harder the younger they are, but that's just been my experience so far.)

    leviatan collection

I agree, that C. humeralis is gorgeous! :tt1: And is that a lily-of-the-valley in the background?

    valida stalking Idolo

Wow, in that first pic your Idolo looks HUGE compared to the R. valida! (And I saw a pic of the shield earlier and she's the size of your fist!) Someone should tell your girl that looks like a very bad idea... :D

some macros of my mantis and other bugs

This forum has ruined me: when I look at the pictures of the flies, all I can think of is, lunch! (For the mantids, not me.) Your camera catches so much detail, and the colors on your fish are beautiful! Looks like it was dusted in gold. What kind of flower mantis is that? Very...

    Adult Phyllothelys werneri female

Congrats! And I love those first few pictures... I must say, that she reminds me a bit of a llama, with the elongated prothorax relative to the abdomen.

    New Ghost!

Thanks, I certainly will! She's a pistol, haha... :) Siri is also a nibbler, and he's sooo calm. (Wonder if it's a breed/species thing?) He's spoiled me, because he's really easy to take out and have around, so I'd forgotten what it was like to have a flighty nymph until Lenie came along!
