    Molt to adult gone wrong

I think euthanasia would be the kindest thing to do in this case. Remember that it's only going to painful for yourself, your mantis will be feeling much better in mantis utopia : )

    Bringing Mantis on a Plane

Where in Oregon are you going to? I can receive it for you in the mail if you want and just have you come pick it up when you get here. I'm in Corvallis, and don't worry I wouldn't do this to get an extra dead leaf mantis. I have a gazillion of them.

    Sacrifice or not to sacrifice

I would keep it ^^ it's so pretty. I doubt it'll be much of a meal, especially if your mantis doesn't like eating wings xD

    Thistles and breeding

Just introduce the male behind the female and make sure he notices her (by either moving her a little or by blowing her scent his way). He'll point his antennae at her or wiggle them in excitement when he does realize she is there. After that just let him do his job. I did this at room...

    Aesthetically pleasing substare

It really depends on what feeders you are going to use imo. A lot of feeders burrow, in which case it would be a bad idea to use anything that they could burrow in.

Getting a mantis on to other prey items

If you can make the powder into a soft brick form, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to feed it. As long as it's nutritionally meant for insectivores it should be fine, though honestly it's a hassle handfeeding non-live things since you have to stick it in their mouth and wait for them to...

    Honey for Mantis

When I feed supplements I dip their regular food into a honey/powder mix, though remember, a little goes a long way for such a small creature : )

Looking to purchase a nice terrarium for my mantis

You can look up a DIY conversion of a 10 gallon to a tall terrarium. It's pretty simple to make and looks nice, holds humidity very well too and personally what I think is the best point, it's super cheap.

Getting a mantis on to other prey items

How old is your chinese mantis? They tend to be pretty skittish at younger ages, and skittish mantises will not try to tackle larger prey items. If it's still on D. Hydei I would say it's still super young, I usually wait until L4 before feeding items such as roaches, and even then I feed very...

    Huge cage

The tiny segments count, you can actually judge the *** by the absence or presence or the tiny segment if you're experienced with it. Males have it, females don't. You need to count on the underside of the abdomen. A common mistake is to count from the top, and they all look like they have the...

    Is My mantis molting?

I mist all my humid/wet species once every three/four days and do not have any trouble with mismolts. But trust me they certainly can be overmisted, and I will advise against misting daily. I've lost a majority of my orchid culture while following online caresheets like that. Speaking of which...

    mismoults

A lot of things can cause mismolts. Low/high humidity, low/high heat, stress, bad location, general wrong husbandry which leads to weak mantises. Depending on how finicky the species is even the lack of correct angled branches will cause deformities. So without knowing your setup and what type...

    Baby delivery...

If you stare at them long enough you'll see them grow! *grin

    Holy hot glue gun...

I almost sat on my hot glue gun a couple times =.= Working on the ground sucks. I usually find working with a higher heat setting helps with the webs. The glue tends to be more liquidy and stay in its place instead of dry into strings. I've also seen some of my nymphs eat the dried glue...

    Orchids

Between all the species I have, orchids are actually one of the easiest to breed. The females are rather docile and I have yet to lose a male that was attempting to mate. My first ooth hatched a couple days ago, the other ooths should follow up in a month. So I'll most likely have them up for...

    I found out...

If there's a show somewhere they always advertise it somehow. Try simply googling it or join an invert group on facebook. If it's a smaller scale show it will probably be advertised on Michigan specific invert groups, but it will definitely be out there somewhere. Why not just straight up ask...

    Wonderful blessing, or Terrible curse

Anything related to Chinese mantises... I fear now. After having 5 ooths hatch within 2 weeks... oh god.

    when can I mate again

You can try again whenever, but give the male and female a little time to calm down (10 minutes or so). I've had males get grabbed by females on their first try but succeed right after on his second try. If shes already laying I wouldn't stuff her too much, otherwise she'll just pop out another...

    Orchid ooth hatching rate?

How large was the ooth? I would leave it for 2 more weeks just in case, and then you could open it up to check if there were any unhatched or unfertilized eggs. Though generally my latest straggler usually comes at three days. Some species like M. Caffra can take 2 months to fully hatch out though.
