    My Ghosts!

I love the green ones too! But black also has its charms and thank you! If you wanna build something similar, just go into a forest and take a big bag with you. Start collecting different mosses and branches and experiment!

    Something killed all my mantises

Reading this, it feels like an absolute horror story tbh, jeez I would be horrified to even watch this happening :/

    Hello from Mississippi

Welcome! As the other guys and girls said, Ghosts are a very cool species to start with! They can be kept together in a big enclosure or apart in smaller containers, cannibalism rarely occurs but can still happen though. I've only raised Ghosts so far and they are really quite the special...

    Ants and isopods

Problem is wasps and bees are big, so easy to catch for a mantis. Ants are small and could sting your mantis without him possibly grabbing it. Well at least european ants are small

    Welcome :D

Why do you keep mantids and what species do you own?

I was looking into reptiles too at first, but seeing how they most of them live like 15+ years, that's quite a lot of time you have them then. Mantids are short lived and you can always continue with the offspring :D

Why do you keep mantids and what species do you own?

To start off, I owned the phyllocrania paradoxa twice. I've had 4 of  them last year and bought 6 again last week. I keep them because I love their camouflage and shapes if their bodies. I'm planning on owning other species later on but haven't figured out which ones yet. I may be looking for a...

Why do you keep mantids and what species do you own?

Like the title says, what do mantids mean to you, why do you keep them and what species do you own/have you owned. Why did you choose that species and would you recommend them or not?

Hello and a fast question from Italy!

hmmm, then I really can't say what the problem could be, can you update me when her condition changes? I'd like to know more about this

Hello and a fast question from Italy!

hmm, is it humid enough in there? Might be she's waiting because the conditions aren't good. Have you tried spraying water in there to get a high humidity?

Hello and a fast question from Italy!

Hmm, I've only had males do that, but males are known for not eating very much during their adult life. I've never had a female not eat for that long. One of them did once eat her own limbs, still don't know why she did it. As I said, they are hard to understand sometimes, do you keep a few...

Hello and a fast question from Italy!

Does she ever attempt to catch prey but fails, or does she just plain ignores them?

Hello and a fast question from Italy!

Wow, I didn't even know they can survive that long without food. Damn, I even start stressing if they don't eat for like 1-2 days. Something I do sometimes is take a dead fly, put some honey on it and wiggle it in front of her face holding the fly with tweezers. She should notice or smell it..

Hello and a fast question from Italy!

Maybe she's just not interested, my female didn't wanna eat for 2 days this week, but suddenly she ate 1 fly after another. They are hard to understand sometimes xD

How long until she lays her ooth?

Most mantids take about 2 weeks to start laying eggs after they mated, it's probably about time for yours

    Sluggish and falling

if she doesn't eat any prey, try giving it honey or banana, they'll eat that too. Maybe it strengthens her to catch her prey again..
