Why is my female mantises abdomen like that after mating??

The clearish ball is likely a spermatophore. This is a Galinthias amoena spermatophore.

    Brian Terry Scammer

Hey! Just wanted to tell everyone not to order from Brian Terry. He is a scammer. I made up a new scientific species name, and asked him if he had any ooths from the made up species, and he said yes. Be careful out there. There are a lot of people trying to take your money.

    Yen Saw - (US)

Yen Saw is amazing. 100% will order again soon. Everything I ordered is alive and looking wonderful. He even included an extra adult female Galinthias amoena and a wired mantis in my order! Never hesitate to order from him. Communication was great, and I can’t say thanks enough.

Hi! I’ve been here since April 2022, but I never made a proper introduction. To start off I’m a 13 year old male that lives in Montana (in case you couldn’t guess from my username). My birthday is on Christmas, hence why my favorite holiday is Christmas. While I might be young, I have a lot of...

Female mantis laid eggs with no protective ooth

It would be interesting for you to try to hatch them. I didn't give my Creo's ooth a chance, so it would be interesting to see. You would also be able to observe the development of the nymphs better. I'm sure the ooth would be more sensitive to environmental conditions.

Female mantis laid eggs with no protective ooth

I've had this happen with a Creobroter gemmatus from my collection a few years ago. I'm pretty sure it was a dietary issue for my female because I had been feeding her meal worms (which can contain some toxins that aren't the best for mantises). What species was your female? I've only heard of...
