The only thing I had on hand was sphagnum moss and pine chips. I realize that wood chips arent the ideal substrate for scorpions but it had to do the job until I could get some sand and/or eco-earth. Sadly he didnt live that long.

Thats what I was thinking. I measured the heat and humidity and it was 77F with 88% so there shouldnt really be an issue there. I did notice that there WAS still a cricket in his enclosure so I guess if he died the cricket could have chewed on his tail but would he have lost all that body fluid...

Im kind of wondering if he had some kind of parasite. I have yet to find anything in his enclosure other than that little roach but I dont see how a roach could have killed him this way. Whatever it was really messed his tail up and he lost a lot of fluid through the opening. :(
