    Sibylla pretiosa

They're a tropical species who require heat and humidity! They're wiry and so much fun. The males are short lived, but the females live quite long. They're cool to watch and keep. Would definitely recommend

    Anxiety

You'll do so great. Part of what makes you a great mantis keeper is the fact that you do worry. My first mantis was a ghost, and she's actually still alive. I have an adult Indian flower mantis on my finger as I type that I raised from a nymph. Any molting issues are out of your control! And...

    @cwebster Thank you! :)

    WTS/WTT C. Pictipennis adult male

I'm looking to sell or trade my adult male indian flower mantis. I would prefer a trade, but I can also sell. If somebody has an adult female, you can breed him and work out an ooth/nymph trade. If you prefer to send me the female and I do the breeding to send you ooths, that's fine also! I'm...

She likes sitting on her orchid :D

    Mantis mating

I would suggest giving the female a large prey item and introducing the male in a way that he sees her but she doesn't see him. I would then suggest watching, as my Indian flowers tend to be quite aggressive, especially the females! Best of luck!

    Mushrooms in Vivarium?

For the sticks, you should probably bake them in the oven. That kills bacteria and possible fungus that could be living in them! I'm sure there are instructions on how to bake them online or on this forum. Best of luck!

Old mantis tearing holes in screen and getting stuck

@cwebster I'm so sorry for your loss. :(  I recently lost a mantis too, and I'm surprised by how much I think of the incident. He was my only Chinese, and though I have a dozen other mantises, when I found him on the floor of his enclosure I was so sad. It's amazing how much joy, peace, and...

    Severely damaged eyes (Rhombodera)

Make sure to keep her hydrated and try giving her raw, natural, unfiltered honey. My r. Basilis was also acting a little droopy and I gave him some water and honey and the next day he was much better. Yku could also try slicing a feeder open and squeezing the guts out a bit and putting that to...

    R. Basalis eye spots

I find that this typically happens to this species! My male has taken two molts to get rid of those. If she isn't pooping, if she's vomiting, or if she isn't eating, then it could be a bacterial infection. But it really looks like eye rub spots! I wouldn't worry too much, especially if she's...

    Cleaned out Bugsey's cage

Awww! Mantises are more vertical climbers than horizontal climbers, so they love sticks, just like you have in your enclosure! Also, did you bake your stick? That will dry it and prevent it from growing mold and fungus and making your mantis sick!

    Nymph Enclosing Size

That looks awesome! Your mantis will love it. What type of mantis will be staying in that? It's possible that your mantis could live its whole life in there if it isn't a huge species! The only concern I would have is if the mantis can't find the fruit flies, but that can be solved with either...

    Building My Terrarium/Vivarium! Part 1

Wow, this is amazing! :D  What kind of mantises are you going to keep in there? Is it going to be a colony? I love the lucky bamboo!

He's an adult now! With weird wings

My Creobroter pictipennis is now an adult! :)  he has wings that are light green and translucent, though, instead of the usual dark green. Any thoughts?

    Bugsey ate raw honey

@Zeppy44 I hand feed my mantises as often as I can by slicing open a wax worm and watching them eat the liquid insides because I love their mouths so much. To watch the little feelers and the jaws work together to eat their prey is absolutely fascinating.

    Cognition?

I find that when I first get mantises, they're afraid and apprehensive of the tweezers I use to feed. But after a couple of feedings, the see the tweezers and snatch the prey from it no problem. Also, if I get near their cage, they reach out their arms and when I open the lid they reach out...
