    Coronavirus: Thoughts?

Major risk factors for all pneumonias include smoking status, immunocompromised states, older age, prior lung disease like COPD, asthma, or bronchiectasis. Having prior infections shouldn’t really change future risk, but there may be an underlying reason why a patient was getting recurrent...

    Coronavirus: Thoughts?

I’m a pulmonary and critical care physician. This virus causes a phenomenon called acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) that drops oxygen levels dangerously low in the blood. Unfortunately for the vast majority of viruses, there is no ‘treatment’. We typically support the patient’s oxygen...

    Black Solider Fly Adventures

I found the adults are readily grabbed, but they are almost never eaten fully and often dropped early on. They may not taste great to the Mantids. Same goes for the larvae...I was really excited to try these since they’re much easier than bbf but it didn’t pan out

    Thailand Wild Mantids

I took a trip to Thailand and found around 10 species or so of mantid. I visited Khao Sok national park and found only one mantid during the few hour night hike, but it was a treasure: A male subadult Deroplatys cf indica. This species is described in the literature only from a holotype male in...
