Recomended temperature for Malaysian dead leafs

With cups it is easiest to stack them inside a glass terrarium that you can heat with a lamp and under tank heater. I use this with very aggressive species. When I did Deroplatys I raised them communally though. At adulthood I separated them into male and female group cages.

    Hierodula membranacea vs Hierodula majuscula

Usually ~same length, H. majuscula is bulkier and stronger. Both adult females are aggressive and great eaters.

    Belize vaca, advice welcome

Got a good feeling about the farm lands. If you read mantid papers, they often find great diversity at farm sites and in the primary forest (top of the trees)

    Belize vaca, advice welcome

I'll post pics of things I find, and I'll do more night hikes for sure since they're always more fruitful

    Belize vaca, advice welcome

I'll be heading there in a few months, no specific plans yet. If anyone has experience here please post your experience with bug hunting. I'm going to try Air BnB at some farm location and see what I can find. In my past experience, the dense jungles aren't the best for finding mantids other...

    Yen Saw - (US)

As always, great transaction. He responds to messages and is willing to work with customers. You can always feel safe ordering from Yen, as he clearly cares. Hassle free, no bs, no runaround, and no garbage. You can't go wrong!

    Who am I?

Adult male Angela spp. I'd say. Short tibiae, pectinate antennae...odd for sure.

Hangs All The Time (Female Chinese Mantis)

I prefer using non-metal tops for larger species of mantids. The little hooks on their feet (called tarsi) can get worn down and eventually break on big and heavy pregnant females, which can cause mobility issues down the line. It isn't a necessity but something to consider.

Can anyone ID this species please

Longest species in culture for sure, legitimate 14 cm adults. They also live a long life, females can top 1.5 years.

How to search & find mantids and ooths (Pictorial guide)

I'm not sure if this was mentioned before, but if I'm covering a field I always start on the side where the sun is coming from. For example, if it is 4 pm in PA I'll start in the W-SW area. Mantids in the US like to sun themselves so it is a bit easier in my opinion doing things in this...

    BioBubble Terra

Ventilation is always a concern, particularly with species that should be kept in tropical conditions. I find the best method for these type of species is to get some holes lower on the walls of the enclosure, near the substrate, to allow upward airflow. This really decreases chances of mold...

    Building Up the Collection Again

@ashleenicoleThe colors really show well in natural sunlight! I haven't seen much variation in this species' colors, so we'll see what happens with this batch. Here is the megaera next to a 9 cm Chinese female I found today for reference:
