    WANTED: Adult Male Orchid

Good luck... I got three teenage females. It would be nice if all the folks that keep or breed US orchids on this forum would register with thread so we could set up a US orchid breeding network. The lack of males young enough to mate with the ready females is the #1 reason why this species is...

    Embarrasing Mantis Question...

I dont play dungeons and dragons! At least not anymore lol ;) But seriously. Just as was so passionately debated a few days ago before the whole thread got magically deleted, insects lack the complex nervious systems that vertibrates have and it is widely accepted that they...

    What's the deal.?.?.

Banannas and honey and the sort are just at the very best a snack only, and usually specific to certain species (Orchid Mantids like bananas, but not all mantids do) A mantis needs a diet very high in protein to survive and therefore stuff like that is not recommended as sustenance.. I have...

    Embarrasing Mantis Question...

Dont feel bad. Dying in the mandibles of a mantis is the greatest honor an insect can ever achieve. Crickets and moths and flies grow up on stories of the brave heroes of their kind that gave themselves to the highest order of insects known as the mantids. Young crickets dream of someday falling...

    Pseudocreobotra ocellata breeding diary

She will be mated with the other adult male I have as soon as he is 3 weeks old just to be on the safe side...I have been feeding her fat moths from the porch light and wax worms daily since she molted to adult... The ooth even sorta shimmers like moth dust. She had been an adult for roughly 28...

Fruit Fly vs Wild Fruit Fly

At the moment wild fruit flies or gnats or whatever you want to call them are an epidemic here in southern Indiana. It even made the front page of the county paper today. I think I am going to try and take advantage of the situation and catch me a bunch. What is the best method of trapping the...

    Ticks

They got 8 legs so I would assume they are arachnids... but Im not an expert on them. I do know that neither P. Ocellata nor Hymenopus Coronatus like the taste of them as each species snatched a tick right up when introduced, but quickly threw it down after little more than a nibble.

Fruit Fly vs Wild Fruit Fly

Dont fruit fly cultures require more ventilation than a water bottle can provide? Nevertheless, I am going to try it with my next batch.

    Breeding Orchid Mantis

Well I am on here all the time and I have never seen them on here for US buyers. If it werent for pure dumb luck that I was snooping around Peter's site when he had some listed I would not have gotten ahold of what I got. And even at that I ended up with all girls and no boys, so my chance to...

    Pseudocreobotra ocellata breeding diary

Well I put the lovers together again yesterday, fed her really good prior and again after about six hours into it. When I checked on them I could tell that the male was curling his abdomen around to meet hers, but when I tried to get a good look he would straighten it out. So I gave them their...
