So, I have 3 ghost mantids.  I have tried repeatedly to feed them houseflies.  They want absolutely nothing to do with houseflies or tiny mealworms.  They are all L4.  They will grab and kill the houseflies, but then just drop them.  The mealworms they will grab at 1x, if they are unsuccessful...

FINALLY!   I ordered a Hierodula Majescula (Giant Rainforest) and Sphodromatnis lineola (Giant African Lined Mantis) May 29th.  They are shipping this week!   Also, I just had a group of the Chinese mantids molt.  They hatched June 11th!   Super excited!

For Chinese mantids, check mantids galore!  She has some up for sale at a very reasonable price!  Also, I just hatched 5 ooths worth of Chinese mantids.  i ordered those on amazon.  

Actually, I finally got a fb message a day ago that there was a loss in the family and that is why.  They said my 2 will ship asap.  I am hoping Monday (before the heat spikes again and before the holiday week).  I ordered a Heirodula Majescula and a Sphodromantis lineola.

Hi and welcome!   The people in the videos are usually trying to get their mantis to do a threat pose (it's pretty).  Put your hand out flat in front, usually they will just walk on.  You can gently push from behind too.   As for the flightless fruitflies...they are tiny, but man can they...

Hi! Does anyone use air plants in their mantid enclosures?  Are they safe?

Thanks, everyone!  How often do you guys handle your mantids? I had a feeling one of my Ghosts was ready to molt and she was hanging from a leaf way too low to molt well.  I decided it was better to disturb her and move her higher than let her molt so low.  Glad I did that, she molted 2 days...

She took down a big fly!  She was hungry!  How many flies do they eat per day?  Should I offer more?
