i just got a fresh adult pair this morning. i got told they feed on d.melanogaster fruit flies at 1st instar but im confused.. they're bigger than my creobroter gemmatus and they can easily take d.hydei. how big are the nymphs?

haha giant shield oothecas are realllly ugly. i remember when my first mantis (giant shield) layed an infertile ootheca. i was like what the hells that? :o my brother was poking it with a stick for awhile lmao! i didn't know much about mantids at the time.

i don't think it means anything. some ooths are just like that :) i once had a texas unicorn ootheca with about 8 holes in it and it hatched 40 nymphs.
