She laid her first Ooth, and did ok! The weird thing is that she keeps "guard" ove rit. every time i put her back in the tank, she heads straight for it, and just sits there. Never had any of my mantids do that before.

I thought that AT BEST, she'd be able to walk around a little, but she not only scrambles around, she likes to jump from the top of my monitor onto the different shelves, doesn't miss a beat! ;)

My Iguana would act more animated and aggressive after being exposed to the sun. "aggressive" may be too strong a word, he never bit me or tail-whipped me, he just was less "passive" after a sunbath. I know very little about the mating behavior of mantids. ;)

A lot of animals act differently if they are exposed to "natural" UV... maybe it will make yer mantids more "frisky"? My iggy would act VERY VERY different after he got some sun. :)

Maybe dress up little plastic mantids in cheap clothing, bad makeup, and leave 'em near the streetcorner? ;) Not sure if there are any pherenomes involved with Mantid mating...I figured it was a visual type of a thing... I would say the best way to get some mantids near ya is to buy some...

I made a tank once that had all H.R. Giger aliens in it, Looked kinda cool. It was for my african chameleon... :)

Beautiful mantids you have! I usually spray the tank near them then they do the "windshield wiper" thang, or I'll spray the twig in front of them, and they get the idea... I also let 'em drink using a straw sometimes... ;)

It's a whitefish thingie found in chinese soup. That mantis is a nutcase, it will try to eat anything in front of it. I usually stick to crickets, chicken, and worms. ;)

Heh, it cleaned the leg instead of eating it... that's pretty funny! My mantid with the prostetic legs is still doing well, it has pretty much accepted them, and cleans them the same way as her real ones...
