Need list of all U.S. Native Mantis

What is the list even for? Also I have not read any post that is 'telling you what to do' it's simply pointless to have mantispidae on the list if you want to keep them. The reason I assume the list is for insects you want to keep is because it is on your about me page in your profile saying you...

    What are mantis flies like?

lol'd hard at 'PhiliaYuma' Anyways I see your idea of intelligence is based upon the animal's behavior though the adults of mantispidae are predators the larvae are parasitic feeding on bee/wasp larvae, spider sacs, etc depending on species so keeping a culture going would be difficult.

    New ghost enclosure

Just get some type of netting and glue it to the lid or get a really big rubber band to hold it on, you don't really need the paper towel unless it's very dry in your area, what instar are these guys? If they're around L2 or above they can take down house flies but house flies could also escape...

Need list of all U.S. Native Mantis

There is no point to having Mantispidae on that list since if you wanted to culture them it would require wasp/bee larvae or spider sacs for the larvae to parasitize.

    Ooth Question

Never have prey items that can fight back in the container if the mantid is going to molt/lay oothecae etc.

    Ooth Question

....what was a cricket doing near the ootheca in the first place...?
  15. bassist

    Ooth Question

It does reduce airflow the reason those containers usually have such large holes is to keep air circulating, I find myself having to modify the lids of 80 oz deli tubs for mantids, they have the same mesh and number of holes on the lid as a 32 oz so this doesn't provide enough airflow for...
  16. bassist

    Ooth Question

That would reduce airflow drastically you don't need a large enclosure for Creobroter to hatch in I use simple 32 ounce deli cups.
  17. bassist

    Ooth Question

That enclosure won't work with Creobroter the larvae can squeeze between the caging.
