    Nymphs can't catch food

All of my nymphs have been started on the flightless fruitflies, The Chinese are getting big quick (but they started off bigger) Then my Stagmomantis limbatas or Carolinas were still undecided, are all going through their first sheds. Its so funny to watch these tiiiiny bugs run after an even...

    Noob question...

All 30 or so of the Chinese nymphs I have like to hang on the raffia grass I have in their jar but the 20 or so Stagmomantis Limbatas I have like to mostly hang from the screen. Maybe I just need a bigger lid for the Chinese to hang from. Different strokes for different... bugs, lol.

    Sping time indeed!!

I did notice we have quite a few aphids and weird little bugs in the tree's, and its close to the rosebushes so they can clear them of those darn aphids. I did manage to catch 11 of em to keep inside at least. Maybe Ill take the other ooth to a nice park overlooking the whole Valley here...

Some pics from the mantid house

I just bought a really neat cage that I can only assume was for a snake or a lizard, Its quite tall with 2 sides and the bottom being glass, and the remaining sides and top screen. The top screen slides out one way and the front has a screen that slides up to about halfway. Im thinking of...

    Stagmomantis californica ootheca

My Stagmomantis Limbatas started hatching around April 1. The second on April 12, and I have a 3rd that hasnt hatched yet. Could be late bloomers, could be infertile. I also have 4 or so Religiosa ooths that havent hatched yet. Im thinking their not fertile so Im going to cut into one...

    final molt

JC I never mated the Stagmomantis or the Religiosa I had laast year. Buuut they were both wild caught. The Limbata laid 3 ooths and 2 have hatched so far. My faaaaavorite bug ever, Thor the relgiosa. She laid 5, well 6 but the last one was way deformed and none of hers have hatched. So while...

    Sping time indeed!!

So I had gotten a couple of Chinese nymphs from Veggie, and he included a couple ooths too. Of all the nymphs he sent me only one is still kickin, and just had its first or second shed over the weekend) So I decide to check on the ooths I put in the Apple tree's and I notice the strings comin...

    Fast Growth

My Chinese that Veggie sent me just had his first shed, well the first since Ive had him. It was pretty cool! All my bugs last year were already adults so I never saw it. Now Im just waiting on all my Stagmomantis Limbata nymphs to start shedding. (I hope I dont loose many more!)

    A good starter ooth?

I just loved my religiosa, but it was an adult when I found it. The ooths are a whole different story. Mine arent hatching yet but from what Rick's said before, Im kind of apprehensive of them hatching..

    What should I do...?

I had found my first wild Mantids last year and got way too attached to my European. She laid me 5 ooths, and my Stagmomantis Limbata laid 3, and the last one's have started hatching so Im better about loosing the mothers now. When I had to put Thor (my religiosa) down I was so sad my mom told...

    Nymphs hatching schedule?

Ok Thanks. I just didnt know if it would be 2 weeks, then 2 weeks from there and so on. All the Mantids I caught in the wild last year were already adults. The 2 females I caught even laid ooths within the first month of me catching them. So those are the nymphs I have now, Im just hoping the...
