Does Anyone Have Access To Bramble?

I am down to my last few branches. I feed Bramble to my giant prickly and green bean stick insects. I live in Chicago and do not have them available in winter time. This is my first time owning them and I thought I stocked up on enough food for them over winter but these guys just don't stop...

Ughhhh I HATE it when their toes start breaking off...

I don't know about you guys but I get so depressed and sad when these guys are in their last couple weeks of life. For the past 5 years I've been raising mantises I deal with at least a death every couple weeks. It never gets any easier. I'm pretty much bawling right now as I'm writing this...

SAVE TRONTE! Female Sub Adult Panther Mantis Swollen Abdomen

Hi All Well this all started almost a month ago. Tronte's abdomen looked swollen so I thought maybe she wasn't pooping. So I was giving her extra water to drink and was also giving her warm water soaks to try to stimulate movement of her abdomen and it didn't seem to help. I cut back on...

Large Black Spots On The Eyes

A couple weeks two of my giant shield mantises started developing large black spots on their compound eyes. The spots seem to be getting bigger by the day. I bought these females as adults about a month ago and was told by the seller that they were only adults for a month and they haven't even...

Ghost Mantis Issue With Oothing & Pushed Something Out Of Her Rear

Advice Please!! My ghost mantis has a problem laying healthy ooths. They are very small and deformed and now her abdomen is swollen (see photos). Dealing With The Death Of A Mantis

Does anyone else find it extremely sad and difficult to get over when you lose a mantis? It seems like I'm losing one on a weekly basis (be it from old age or mismolt) and it doesn't get any easier (especially a mismolt death.) I've attached a photo of my most recent loss from old age, Harley.

    FREE GHOST MANTIS

I had another hatching of ghost mantises today and if anyone is interested in a free baby or two, or three, let me know. They are eating melanogaster fruit flies- you absolutely MUST have a fruit fly culture on hand before I send out. All you need to pay for is express shipping.

    Ghost Mantis Breeding

I have a female ghost mantis who has laid 4 ooths...& just wondering if the  female  has to be inseminated several times in order to lay a fertile Ooth or is it a one time copulation that yields multiple fertile Ootheca?

Why Are Male Ghost Mantises Such Picky Eaters?

I guess it's not just the Ghosts come to think of it. My Unicorn (Lucy-thought I bought a she and turned out to be a he) and Indian Jeweled Flower (Astrid) are also stubborn when it comes to eating. I have to cut the heads off of the BBFs & small dubias because they don't like it when...

Female Dead Leaf Mantis Ootheca Bound?

I have a 7 month old female Deroplatys Truncata who has been lugging around a very large abdomen for several months now and I'm worried she may be Ooth bound. I got Diesel and two other females (double shield & popa spurca) at the same time and both of them have laid many oothecae. She looks...
