I appreciated this thread nonetheless! It was a lot of information. I'm currently experimenting with raising HF. A lot of my newer species of mantids are scared of my dubia roaches, even when they're much smaller than them. And constantly buying flies is more pricey than the mantids themselves...

Is she hot? Is she horny? I don't know what's happening! But after she stopped fanning her wings she paced around the enclosure, lost her footing and fell, then started climbing again. Temp is around 77F near her.

Hey there! So I just bought a thermo/humidity gauge for my exo nano, but the giant block of styrofoam inside the terrarium is posing issues. The probe holes in the lid make it so I can only put the probes behind the styrofoam and not in the main tank area. It seems like it just wouldn't work...

This is all good information guys thanks. I think I will start misting their enclosure more heavily when I do in fact mist. The humidity stays around 50% when I do mist, for about an hour. After that it's between 35-40% which I'm not a fan of. I will try slightly dampening the substrate.

I have an exo terra nano waiting for me under the tree and a lamp stand waiting for it.  :)   And I sent several links to my husband from various breeders with ghost mantids buuuut I probably won't get any new mantids since we're due to move in about 8 months.

About once or twice a week I will sit down with a paint brush dipped in water and hand feed water droplets to my mantids. They love it, and if they don't I wipe the water on their claws so they will lick it off! But I'm wondering if they would go to a water dish if I put a small on in there...

Contact the company you purchased the heating mat and thermoregulator from to see if the company detects a problem. Also just to clarify I believe you are both describing different temperatures Celsius vs Fahrenheit so just in case you weren't aware keep that difference in mind.
