wanted: Abedus herberti - Ferocious Water Bugs

I don't know with which company these bugs were shipped, i just asked for someone to deliver me these bugs and Andrew said he could do it. I called Dutch post customs about the parcel and they tracked the number, and said it did not arrive in the Netherlands at all. I did not smuggle anything...

wanted: Abedus herberti - Ferocious Water Bugs

After all this time the water bugs still have not arrived. When I call the post office here in Holland with the bar code Andrew send me, they tell me the parcel has not entered Holland yet and Andrew should contact his post office. I do not hear from him much anymore. I have paid 80 dollars for...

    Seizures?

They do not have two brains, that's just nonsense. It was just dying... unsynchronized firing of dying neurons resulting in involuntairy movements without direction. It happens a lot when mantids die.

    sexing s. lineolas

Already a lot of great answers, but maybe this helps also: First is female, second is male: I count in this way, but some people count one segment more (the one between the legs) so end up with 6 and 8 segments. Also note the size of the last segment: in females almost twice the size of the...

    Mantis weird molt

Too bad for her... She will not make it. This type of problem will not become better. The humidity was a bit too low when she started to molt I think.

    Found Assassin nymph

That's a nice experiment! Do they use the same probiscus as assassin bugs? Because it would seem strange to me to have it for pine seeds...

    New ZealandMantis Ooth scam

If a person asks repeatedly for more money, then you must know something is wrong, right? Then you just lost a lot of money to a scammer or get your money back from a honest seller. But of course everyone can get scammed if they are clever enough.

What instar do ghost mantids go upto?

You must me able to see the wing buds at the back of the mantis extending somewhat to the side. If it is subadult this must be clearly seen. i do not know about ghosts but I thought mantids had 8 molts. Only males of H. coronatus had 6 and some other small species.

For sale: R. basalis (Shield mantis) ooth, Giant Asian ooth, Sphodromantis baccettii ooths

wanted: Abedus herberti - Ferocious Water Bugs

Thanks for the PM! This is a picture of a male carrying eggs (yes it's the males that care for the eggs): they are like the mantids of the lake, because they also have raptorial arms and prey on other insects.

wanted: Abedus herberti - Ferocious Water Bugs

I am looking for adults or nymphs of the Ferocious water bug Abedus herberti. I need enough to breed, this should be 2 pairs of adults or 6 - 8 nymphs. I heard they are common in creeks in some parts of the US. I live in the Netherlands and we don't have them here at all. I think sending them...

Gambian Spotted Eye Mantis Ooth/Nymph Care

with me they also took on big prey without a problem, but also each other. So to me after L4 they could not be housed together without losses.

    Very very sad...

I do not know what exactly she did, but couldn't it be the flight response? That she plays dead or moves weird because you where chasing her? it would be very unlikely that a poison kills in 48 hours and with this mantis it works instandly.

    Longest lived mantid?

My 1th Ghost mantis female lived for 9 months as an adult, and from newborn to adult could take 4 months to 6 months so that together is the time she lived. But mantids are not really long-lived. The max age difference will be only a few months around 1 year, only the small species generally...

    Mantid Slang

I have heard of the name Devils Horse but also other names like Soothsayers and Mule Killers. When trying to find my original source, I found something much better: http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=ONzlUPnNcYQ
