    more chinese questions..

They are pretty canabalistic. Friends and I have kept them together until they molted to L5, but we had alot of casualties. L4 is probably the latest to go without seperating.

    What color will they be?

Some friends and I had three ooths that hatched. Mine all stayed brown, but my friends have some green ones, varying from greenish tinge or bright green. I personally wish I had their green ones lol

    Feeding mosquitoes to nymphs?

If the mosquitos are small enough then it should be fine. I've noticed that my mantids haven't been too into the mosquitos though. They prefer fruit flys and the more accepted types of food, I guess thats why people use them lol.

    How long until first molt?

I'm raising chineses right now and they hatched around the end of febuary. I would say they could hatch sooner than 10 days. It really depends on how ur keeping them. I seperated some into cups, so the high humidity and the warm temps helped. If you feed them as much as they'll eat they molt...

    Question about Idolo Feeding

I do have a heat lamp and usually hes kept at 80s or higher in the day and not lower than 65-70 at night. Maybe I'll try to up that a little bit. Also there could be the possibility that he's close to molting. I think both times that i've had food to feed him as much as he wants, he's been...

    Question about Idolo Feeding

Just a general question. I got my first idolo as a gift from yen a few months ago and I noticed he seems to digest his food slower than my other species. My chinese and Creos all seem to eat, get fat, and then by the next day or two they have gotten much skinnier. But the Idolo seems to stay...

    Alternate to fruit flies?

You could try micro crickets. I've seen some places that sell super tiny ones that are larger than fruit flies but would probably be small enough for nymphs. I've never tried them as I've always been able to get fruit flies

    Blue Bottle Food Question

Thanks guys. Sorta new at mantids so I'm grateful for the advice. I might put a few of the flies in another container and try the cricket food with them. I'll be sure to post up here with what I find.

    Blue Bottle Food Question

Question about Blue bottles. I've fed my blue bottles the normal blue bottle food mix before but they don't seem to be super attracted to it. Is it possible to feed the Blue bottles the Flukers Cricket feed? (the orange cube kind) Will this harm the flies or is it effective? Just wanted to...

    Sexing Chinese Mantis?

Hey all. A bunch of friends and I have had some Tenodera Sinensis for a while and I was wondering if you guys know how to determine the sex of them. I've heard that females have 6 segments and males have 7 or 8. But They're all at L4 and its a little hard to tell how to count and tell how...

crazy idolo stopped eating flys, he likes chinese?

I had the same problem when my idolo molted to L4 or L5 (not sure). But he wouldnt eat for what seemed like a week. Then one day he stopped swatting and being scared of the flies and started running after them (which he had never done before) and catching them and eating them. So don't worry...
