My Chinese Mantis had a large meal like that once. I gave her an extra large Katydid & after about 30 minutes of eating, she stopped cold & hung onto half of it for another 15 minutes I didnt move a bit...stuffed. She took a few more bites & then dropped the other half. Fun to...

Mine is also going through this now. She is about 7months old. So Im trying to get ready for her to pass away (or the freezer idea if it comes to that). Is there any average age on how long Chinese mantis's live indoors? Whats the oldest Mantis anyone has heard of?

I saw the work of Igor Siwanowicz just last week. My mouth was literally hanging wide open as I saw these amazing photos. Some of these photos make it hard to believe these insects are from Earth! makes me feel like my photos are complete trash!)

Nice article, thanks. I've heard bits about this, but never the entire article. I've often wondered how much the Mantis can actually hear. Ive tried using a specific sound when I visit my Mantids to let them know its ME visiting them...probably a waste of my time I know.

That would be really cool to metal plate a Mantis. They sure do make it sound more complex than needed.
