My first nymph raised to adulthood

Thanks guys. Yeah Jay, the wings turned out looking in fine shape. Seen him flitter them a couple of times to either help dry them out or perhaps wanting to try them out. I'm not taking him out of cage for that reason, I've read that the males are really flighty. Funny his mother was green and...

My first nymph raised to adulthood

Here's Ripley , one of 10 nymphs who hatched from my first wild carolina mantis' ootheca, molting to adulthood. Old hat stuff for most of you guys but new to me. Been keeping an eye on him as he already had his bud wings and got to watch the molt from start to finish. Cool watching the wings...

    Hello from Indiana

Howdy, I'm a new guy also with a Carolina mantis and just finished reading and going back thru several sections of Orin's book. Must say it's both interesting and very informative. I would definitely recommend purchasing it, you won't regret it.

    Carolina after giving birth

My Carolina laid another ootheca last night so I shot a couple of quick photos of what she looked like right after. I know it's just a part of nature but the thingy hanging out her butt (forgive my ignorance but I haven't looked up scientific name for it) kind of grossed me out for a bit. I know...

    New Guy

Thanks for the warm welcomes guys! Mantis Man, I went back and asked my wife if she was sure about her description of the other mantis and she's now uncertain (not a good eye witness). I'm still just hoping the sack hatches, I'll like to try my hand at raising'em up from babies. Think I've got...
