    Age gap

I recently received 4 giant asian mantises. 2 are L4 or L5 females. And the other 2 are L2 gender unknowns. Is it possible for these 2 pairs of mantises to catch up to each other in terms of growth? The 2 smaller ones are fed every day with as much as they can eat and they are kept at around...

    Is this alright?

No problem! Good luck with the ghost! They are a very cool species.

    Is this alright?

I recommend using a paper towel instead instead of substrate mainly because it is a lot easier to clean and it is easier to track down pesky uneaten bugs in the enclosure. But that is just my opinion some people prefer substrate over paper towel's. That cup will last that species most if not all...

    Spiny flower mantis

No not at all. For me at least this was my first species and as long as you feed it regularly keep the temperature and humidity right it doesn't really require that much extra care. It will eat fruit flies up to L3 and then you can just switch over to small crickets or baby dubias. The only...

    Successful Molt

Yeah I kept checking on her every 5-10 minutes for the past 2-3 days. Really nerve wracking. I noticed yesterday she started to molt and by tonight she finished. Funny how attached you get to these little things. Hopefully all her molts will be this successful!

    Successful Molt

Hooray Horrah! My Spiny Flower Mantis has molted! She is now L3 and her coloring and spines are starting to show! All limbs seem to be functioning and she is moving around her container with ease! I was very worried about a mismolt so I paid extra attention to the humidity and temperature. I...

Wild caught European mantis produced ooth, whats the next step?

You live in Utah as well? Cool! In the Provo/Orem area there are very few wild mantises. What part of Utah do you live in? It's cool to see a fellow mantis keeper in the beehive state!

    Horn Worms

Can mantises eat horn worms? I already have a horn worm culture for my beardies and gecks. So I was wondering if mantis could eat them as well. They are big juicy and packed with nutrients. But maybe they are poisonous to mantids?

    Crazy Eater

My L2 Spiny Flower Nymph is a absolutely insane eater! Yesterday she ate 9 fruit flies from my culture. Can mantises over eat? I figured I'd stop feeding her when she didn't eat anymore. But she just keeps eating and won't stop. I woke up to her container littered with feces (around 25 pellets)...

    Hey dudes

Thanks man! I have bred and sold beardies and geckos for years so I figured this wouldn't be too difficult. And I find their short life span and fast reproductive traits a great choice for helping me with some of my biology projects in college. I plan on documenting family trees, genetic...
