Does anyone know if mantids have compound eyes? When I see them close up, they look different from most insects, like they have similar eyes to mammals. Also, how do you tell the difference between a male and female mantis? :?:

My apologies if this question has been answered before, but I was wondering; if a young mantis has part of a limb missing, will it eventually grow back as it becomes an adult or is it gone forever?

Well, we have several other oothca; we will be putting them in our gardens. I am hoping that they can survive winters here, but just incase, I will look around in the autumn for eggs. We are hatching one more indoors, but we will likely set the babies free. Our two survivors of the last batch...
